A BULAHDELAH man allegedly caught trapping eels in the Manning River will be prosecuted.
NSW Fisheries Director-General Steve Dunn said the 54-year-old, who did not hold a commercial licence, was allegedly found with 37 eels and an eel trap on a private property at Callaghans Creek. People convicted of eel trapping faced fines up to $11,000 or a maximum three months in jail.
Eel traps were banned in inland waters and could only be used in farm dams with a permit.
